National Youth Leadership Council got the chance to learn more about Esri, the storymap makers, during a training in Redlands, CA.

As technology advances more and more each day, it becomes even more vital that we use that power to create change in the world. Roots & Shoots U.S. National Youth Leadership Council Member, Yanni Pappas, talks about mapping and Esri, and the importance they hold in fulfilling the Roots & Shoots mission. He shares what he learned after spending the day at the Esri headquarters in Redlands, California and also his personal experience with community mapping using GIS (Geographic Information Systems).

As a member of the NYLC, Yanni acts as a youth voice and works to make a positive change in his community — for people, animals and the environment. While studying Environmental Science at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, Yanni is also a leader in his school's environmental education club, and he works with Speak for the Trees Boston to advocate for the city’s urban canopy. In his free time, Yanni enjoys playing with his dog, Kimi, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
