Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Transfers
Many of the rehabilitated chimpanzees at JGI’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Congo have been moved from the sanctuary to new, protected island sites in the Kouilou River. These island sites, which comprise the majority of Tchimpounga’s recent expansion, have been under construction for years as JGI staff work to ensure that the chimps can live freely in the forests under the watchful eyes of JGI caretakers and vets.
