Hayley is was an intern for the Jane Goodall Institute in the fall of 2015. She graduated from Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in Media and Communication and Theatre. She is interned for the communications department at JGI because she hopes to help Jane's mission to "speak out for those [chimpanzees]...who cannot speak for themselves."

Truly “Good For All News” emerged on December 12, when 195 nations agreed on a global action plan to decrease human impact on climate change. The main goal of the Paris Agreement is to take effective action collectively in order to prevent the planet from rising more than 1.5 degrees celsius (or 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit). As negotiations continued this week at COP21 in Paris, ten African nations announced the African Forest Restoration Initiative (AFR100), a plan to restore 100 million hectares of land in the next 15 years. AFR100 will implement plans, programs, and forums to decrease deforestation and desertification and increase land use productivity. AFR100 not only ensures a better future for land and people across the African continent but the entire world. Strategies included in the initiative such as  agroforestry (growing among trees), land use planning, and environmental education create more jobs, food security, fertile soil, and increase biodiversity. On December 7th, world famous primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall and oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle announced the launch of the Tapestry of Hope at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris. This goal supports one of the Jane Goodall Institute’s core values, which is to promote change through knowledge and understanding with education and advocacy.
